The North Canton Heritage Society’s 2014 holiday fundraiser is a series Christmas cards featuring four photos of North Canton’s traditional Christmas tree. The tree, on the community’s Square, has long been a center of holiday activity in North Canton. The photos, reproduced in black and white on large size (5 ½ x 8 ½”) cards, feature the tree at various time periods. The first card shows the original tree in 1919, near the post office in what is now Bitzer Park on the southeast corner of the Square. The second card, from 1960, shows the tree being erected with a crane on the Hoover Company lawn. The third is the 1964 Community Sing with a large crowd surrounding the tree. The last card shows the tree in 1999 with the Hoover Company buildings in the background.
These cards, on heavy cardstock, are bundled with envelopes in packages of 16, four of each view, with a simple “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year” message inside.
